Our Statement of Black Lives Matter
Systemic racism is neither a new issue nor novel problem. Even in a field designed to be as colorblind as possible, racism still manages to pervade the world of cybersecurity and information technology. We are not immune from the perils of systemic and institutional racism, so we both welcome and encourage this current cultural reckoning in hopes that a new, more equitable paradigm replaces our current models of senseless bigotry and racial injustice.
At Wilson Consulting Group, we work diligently to promote racial diversity and uplift our voices of color. Yet, we understand completely that we can and must do more. To that end, we are dedicating resources to local Black community organizers on the ground fighting to dismantle these systems of oppression. We encourage and charge all who can to donate your time or money, whichever you have to give.
As part of our efforts, WCG has donated to a local non-profit organization’s Laptop Donation Drive, which seeks to raise funds for underprivileged students in Washington, DC that have learning disadvantages worsened by the COVID-19 pandemic. We are also enhancing our approaches to diversity, equity, and inclusion in our domain. To that end, we have established the WCG Internship Program, extending this opportunity to DMV-area students of Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) who are pursuing degrees in Cybersecurity, Information Systems or Security, Engineering, Data Science, Data Analytics, Business, Sales and Marketing, English, Communications, or any related field. All interested applicants should send a resume and cover letter to humanresources@wilsoncgrp.com.
A brighter and more hopeful future depends on empowering young minds, especially those from our underserved communities. Our desire is that through these efforts, we can cultivate our Black and minority communities to achieve true equality and build a society free from racial injustice and the senseless endangerment of Black lives.
Black lives have always mattered. Their story is the American story.
